Year R/1 Mighty Maths Workshop – Friday 29th October @ 10:00 – 12:00 – Amie Newby

Come and join us on this wonderful workshop on Maths to learn valuable Maths tips. Using games, puzzles and problems, we will tackle key curriculum areas, including; the four operations (+, -, x, division) and problem solving with money! It’s time to get confident with maths!

Year R/1 Phonics Fun Workshop – Thursday 28th October @ 10:00 – 12:00 – Amie Newby

Join in the fun by learning your phonics through singing songs and engaging, fun activities with our super-enthusiastic expert teacher! Great for both Reception and Year 1 children to learn and reinforce their phonics knowledge by using them in an exciting and motivational way!

Year 2 English Skills Escape Room Workshop – Thursday 28th October @ 13:00 – 15:30 – Lucy Collins

Unlock your potential with our English Skills Escape Room Workshops! We will begin by teaching important spelling, punctuation and grammar strategies. You will then apply these, and challenge your reasoning abilities, by completing problem-solving puzzles to reveal a code and escape from the room you are ‘locked’ in! Fun, engaging and great motivation to learn those all important English skills!

11+/Year 6 Writing Workshop – Tuesday 26th October @ 10:00 – 13:00 – Kelly Chatfield & Lucy Collins

Here at Kip, we have developed a writing technique that helps to make writing more manageable. We find that lots of our children find it difficult to know where to start with their writing as they want to include all the literary elements they have learned. Our writing technique makes writing more ‘formulaic’ so that the students can follow simple steps to ensure that their writing ‘ticks the boxes’ needed to get the highest marks that they can in their 11+ and other future exams.

11+ Essential Maths Skills Murder Mystery Workshop – Wednesday 27th October @ 9:30 – 12:30 – Lucy Collins

It is vital to have a sound knowledge of Maths skills when doing the 11+ and this workshop will teach and apply these essentials. Looking at a range of topics including fractions, decimals, long multiplication and division, negative numbers and percentage – our expert 11+ tutor will teach these. The children will then apply the strategies by testing their reasoning and problem-solving with a murder mystery puzzle! Fun, engaging and great motivation to learn and build confidence in those 11+ required skills!

Learning Skills for Exams Workshop (Year 10 & 11) – Monday 25th October @ 10:00 – 12:00 – Kevin Palmer

The pressure on our students to achieve has never been greater and exams can be a stressful time for anyone. The prospect of having future plans scuppered by an exam result can raise anxiety in the calmest of people. This 2 hour workshop is designed to help children going into their exams by providing some tips and coping strategies in:

  • Developing a positive mindset.
  • How to handle exam anxiety and stress
  • Motivating yourself to achieve your target grades, whether that is a pass or a grade 9!

Using a mixture of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques (CBT), integrated with basic mindfulness and a willingness to learn this workshop delivers the techniques to help your young people achieve their full potential in their exams. Secondary English Language Workshop (Year 10 & 11) – Monday 25th October @ 13:00 – 16:00 – Nuzma Badat

Led by our expert English teacher who is also an experienced AQA examiner, this workshop will give you valuable exam strategies to help with the English Language GCSE exam for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

GCSE Maths Grade 4/5 Workshop – Wednesday 27th October @ 10:00 – 13:00 – Kevin Palmer

Are you working towards grade 4 or 5 in your GCSE Maths? In this workshop we will look at algebra (solving equations, rearranging equations, factorising and simultaneous equations,) geometry (basic angles, triangles, quadrilaterals and circles) number work (LCM and HCF) to help students achieve a grade 4 or 5 in GCSE Maths. The workshop will assume that the basics are in place and is suitable for students working at grade 3 or grade 4 who would like a higher pass or a confidence boost.

GCSE Maths Grade 7+ Workshop – Tuesday 26th October @ 10:00 – 13:00

 A session aimed at developing the skills needed to tackle the more advanced questions in GCSE, suited to those aiming high and wanting a little boost. Looking at completing the square, vectors and proofs, especially wording of answers. With a 30 minute open Q&A to bring other concerns around higher level questions.
